60 mile special needs bag

I did the 1/2 IM last year, so I don't know how the special needs bag works on the bike. I am planning on packing a sandwich and some other food that I don't want to carry the whole way. Do they have people giving them out or do you have to stop and pick it up? I really

Yes, people will hand your special needs bag to you as you arrive at the stop. To give you the details: some very very kind people at a perfectly positioned church out in the country let us use their parking lot and volunteers from the church and cycling community staffed the station. They positioned a spotter with a walkie talkie 1/2 mile ahead of the station. They caught your number and your bag was generally ready when you arrived.

That said, sometimes confusion does happen and you should be patient and gracious to these volunteers. I witnessed an embarrassing interaction last year with a triathlete "semi-scolding" the volunteers because of very minor delay. The fact that I witnessed this means that it that this athlete was NOWHERE near the front. Don't be that person.

...and have a blast at the race!
