Aqua socks & Timing chip

Postby Tropical on Tue Nov 03, 2009 5:26 pm

Does anyone know whether the ankle strap that holds the timing chip can be worn underneath an aqua/swim sock and still register your swim time? I've heard that tucking up and underneath your wetsuit leg does not sometimes work but was not sure whether the problem was neoprene covering it or the higher distance to the mat. Would be nice not to have to remove the band before removing the sock in T1.

I always tuck my chip under the ankle of my wetsuit & never had such an issue. Now if it was under both the suit AND a sock, that may change things.

it will read through both...no worries. just don't pull a rookie move and throw it on your wrist (i've see n it done)...the timing mats struggle once you get that far away

Thanks! I suspected distance was probably the issue but was not sure.
