Bike course changes for '09 and The Bridges???!!!

Postby psycholist on Sat Jul 18, 2009 12:20 am

Those carpets over the draw bridges were terrible last year. Anyone know if they've come up with a better solution for '09?

Also, I've heard that there are to be some changes to the bike course, but haven't heard details. Anyone got the details? (Doesn't appear that anything has been changed in the official course maps yet.)

Bike and Run course changes

Hey,
I agree with the carpet statement. That was awful. This year both the bike and run course have changed. The bike course is going to take us up Market St (HWY 17) for a short distance and down the 140 overpass which will dump us directly onto 421 without going over the bridge. This will be a much better bike ride (in my humble opinion). The run course will also be an out and back twice run. This will take us over the first two bridges, through Greenfield Lake area and back through town over the two bridges, then the same thing again. They are attempting to completely keep us off the main draw bridge for the entire race. This will allow all traffic going south to have a bridge all to themselves and will keep us from that horrible last bridge on mile 25 of the run! I too am awaiting official maps to be posted, but that is the news from Bike Cycles and I believe Shawn helps route the course. so I am going on that.
