logistics staying at beach

Postby obx2b on Mon Oct 05, 2009 2:15 pm

Hi,
I am doing the full and staying out at the beach. Ideally, I would leave my vehicle downtown on Friday night, get a ride to the beach, do the race Saturday, and have my vehicle waiting for me. Anyone else considering this? I would love to share the coordination. Can you leave a vehicle in the city garages downtown overnight? Other suggestions? I would be happy to try and work this out with others. Alternatively, if someone has room to take me back out to the beach Saturday night, that would be wonderful.
Thanks!

That sounds like it would be a rough night. I am sure he is staying in a hotel.

No, maybe a few years ago I would have considered that. I am staying in a hotel at the beach.

I was wondering that too. I have a room at the Hilton for my husband and me. Was thinking of booking a room at the Sunspree for my adult children. They are driving down saturday to watch me finish and stay for the awards cruise. They will probably hang at the beach for the afternoon, then head over to the finish line around dinnertime. How will they get there? I assume they won't be able to drive??? Are there going to be shuttles?

There are water shuttles and a bus going from downtown. Hopefully they will have enough this year and avoid the mess getting back to downtown that occurred last year.

I am staying further out on Market Street near the intersection of Hwy 74 and am planning ot drive into town about 4am Saturday morning, park in one of the parking garages and catch the shuttle from the host hotel - then I can just drive back to my hotel afterwards (if I can catch a water taxi  )
