Neoprene Swim Cap

Postby stuff01 on Sun Oct 25, 2009 2:23 pm

Would any of you suggest racing in a neoprene swim cap? I have not raced or swam in 65' water. I do not have one but I would have to order it in the next couple of days.

Also, what do you think of wearing the neoprene booties? Would that be needed as well?

Thank you! :D

I just swam the channel in a full wetsuit, and without any other accessories. The water was very comfortable, and I may have even gotten warm towards the end of the swim. I doubt the temperature is going to change that much in the next thirteen days.

I read alot of race reports from last year. alot of people said they really wished they had the booties because the run from the swim exit to T1 is kind of long, and it was 37 degrees! Everybody's feet were freezing for that run, and never warmed up until an hour or so into the bike.

Not sure were going to have it much warmer this year...

So both of you are not wearing neoprene swim caps but possibly are wearing the booties?

Thanks! :D

I did the half last year and was freezing in my sleeveless westsuit. Im bringing the full suit, booties and cap this year. Im going to test the waters the day before and see what I need/don't need. Last years weather was a fluke and hopefully won't be repeated this year.
