Wetsuit Rental

Postby Situmba on Sat Oct 31, 2009 1:07 pm

Will there be an opportunity to rent a wetsuit at the event. I have a short sleeve wetsuit, but I am not sure if a full wetsuit may be the way to go for this race. Any suggestions?

Don't know about rentals (didn't see any last year on-site), but last year at the expo (which was at the check-in), there were some really good deals on wetsuits for sale. Short-sleeved will likely be pretty cool on you if the water temps are like last year.

Last year, I went for a swim in the channel the Thursday before the race with my shortsleeve wetsuit. It was was a little too cold for my tastes for a 1+ hr swim. I went to the expo hoping to rent a long sleeve but no one was renting. I ending buying one and was glad I did.

Local folks been swimming in the channel in sleeves and sleeveles without trouble. I personnally think you will be fine becuase we are not going to get big water temp drop over next 6 days. You will have to judge if you are way cold natured or if the air temp really drops (not likely according to weather watchers at this time).

That said, our boys at Trysports (910.256.2395) will hook you up with a rental. They are local guys and a great resource.
