Wet Suit Rental

Postby Situmba on Sat Oct 31, 2009 1:08 pm

Will there be an opportunity to rent a wetsuit at the event. I have a short sleeve wetsuit, but I am not sure if a full wetsuit may be the way to go for this race. Any suggestions?

Would definitely plan on getting a wetsuit lined up now rather than the day before the race.
I'd have to say get a full, for warmth and speed, especially if you're doing the full distance.
You'll float higher, go faster, and have the peace of mind when you're standing at the start.

If you are doing the half, a strong swimmer, and don't mind chilly water, you can do it in the sleeveless with no problem.

Situmba,

Brian here from Planet-X-USA...I have a fleet of wetsuits that I can bring for the event. I don't have a single suit that has been worn more than once (just started renting this year.) My rental suits are the Nineteen Pipeline...one of the best and most durable suits for rental out there. I only charge $35, and I have the full-sleeve and sleeveless. You can send me an email if you would like one...I'll arrive Thursday around 2-3pm...or I could put it in the mail to you tomorrow if you want it sooner. brian.ray@planet-x-usa.com.

my two cents, as someone who raced exclusively in S Florida, until my move up to NC 3 years ago.....practice in your suit, plain and simple....the suits can be somewhat constrictive around the neck and shoulders, so there is often an adjustment needed (whether it be a new suit or in my case, lots of lubricant around your neck and shoulders to ease motion, or maybe even a slight adjustment in stroke to compensate for the additional planing)....hope this helps!
