SPECIAL NEEDS BAG - RUN

Postby c2manymillers on Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:08 pm

What do you put in the special needs bag for the run? Any suggestions. I have been training with items available at aid stations. I come from a marathon background so I am have always adjusted to what was available in aid stations.

I'm slow, and finished in the dark, so last year I put a long sleeved shirt and a pair of gloves in the bag. If this isn't an issue for you, you can always skip the bag..... they're not required.

Hey there,
We will soon meet again! I am putting all my dreams of finishing strong in my special needs bag for the run. Someone told me that the Ironman doesn't start until mile 13.1 of the run! Good luck. I hope to see you at the finish (if you hang around and wait for me)

it might sound silly, but in addition to any nutrition you need to warmer gear to put on, you might want to think of putting a note in there for yourself...or have your wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend/parent write a short note on an index card...let them put it in there w/o you looking so you can grab it at 13.1 and you can read it and think about them for the last half...could be inspiring...

I put in potato chips, honeybun, mountain dew, and a small chocolate milk(unrefrigerated kind).

I never used the mountain dew(sugar overload), everything else was great.

I would also suggest light gloves and a jacket if you get cold easily and are running past dark.
