Run Course Info

What is the inside info on the run course? I would assume it is fairly flat.

I hate to be the bearer of 'bad' news, but the run course is not flat. Having trained on the course for the past several months, I can honestly say it is going to be a challenging marathon. While the majority of the terrain is flat, you will have to cross three briges each lap. While they are not too steep, they will certainly give the legs a challenge. Hopefully you've had a chance to get some hill-training in during your training. Good luck!

I live in the Upstate of SC, and I can't get out of my driveway without running up a hill, so the bridges should not bother me. In fact that might bring a welcome change!

I am out of central NC where it rolls everywhere. Can't run a mile with out some kind of hill. Well nothing real bad. I do not know the whole course but was surprised to find some small hills on it even on front street. Nothing big but after hours on the bike you will know it when you get there....
What about the middle part of the course. In the park area I do not know that part of course....is it flat or do we get some roll out of it? Around miles 6 to 10 and then what 18 to 22 areas..

Hey Scout - Fortunately, the section of the course through the Greenfield Lake area is very flat, there are no hills in that section. The tougher spots are mainly the bridges and the hill at Nunn st. and the one heading towards Greenfield (can't remember the street name).

I'm from MA, I'm hoping that the hills here are much worse than down there, the Boston Marathon was torture! I have a couple races coming up with some monster hills, hopefully that is good enough training
