To ZOOT or not to ZOOT

Postby Todom on Tue Sep 16, 2008 12:35 am

I just wanted to see what shoes everyone was going to be running in...I am going to be wearing my zoots. I recommend them, but I know that everyone has their shoes

I've done a half IM in my Zoots with no socks and had no problems. Several long runs, too. I'm a little leery of doing the full in my Zoots. And if I do, I will probably wear socks.

I thought you guys were ironmen. Do the full in bare feet......
I am doing the full...and are going to wear socks but I am planning to go with my racing flats. The zoot shoes seem to be a little expensive. Are they really that good that you can do a half IM with out socks???

I have a pair of Reebok premiere running sneaks that I like, I've only done one tri without socks and wouldn't recomend it, in a half or full it really wouldn't take to much time away in transition maybe in a sprint

Really...unless you are going to win Full or the Half, I would suggest wearing socks...the time it takes to put them on is so little compared to the discomfort you may feel from foot problems....put on the socks.
However if you are going to race a full in Hawaii and be running with Stadler in the last 5k of the marathon...well the putting on socks may make a difference.

I am wearing my ZOOTS for the full but am for sure wearing socks. I have to with my custom inserts...darn flat feet. But hey, socks are better than knee trouble at age 23. P.S. Wore socks in the last ironman and time to put on is worth it.
