Will it be allowed to listen to an Ipod (or similar) during the run leg?

If there will be music at all of the run aid stations then you should have music for most of the run anyway. You should be able to hear it long before and long after each one. Just a thought, for what it's worth. D

Every USAT and non-USAT race I have ever done said no music...but have never seen it enforced. Has anyone ever seen a penalty or DQ for having an IPOD?

I have never tried as I would not want to be the first to get DQed, but is frustrating they have the rule but are lax on enforcement as I would love to have my own tunes on the run.

Ha! I have a friend who was dinged twice for music at the White Lake half a couple years ago...six minute penalty on the bike and another six on the run. How lucky are you?

I have a friend who was penalized in the SC 1/2 this year for an ipod so they are definitely starting to enforce it.

you will be penailzed for any music/headphones...you can be penalized more than once for doing it...and if you have your headphones in you can't hear the people screaming for you!!

Headphones

The USAT rule on unauthorized accessories (headphones) will definitely be enforced. It is a time penalty, (6:00, 12:00, DQ) but if you do something really boneheaded, the head official always has the discretion to deem it an endangerment penalty which is a disqualification. Remember that the second penalty is 12:00 but it is added to the first for a total of 18 minutes.
