I've nailed my bike nutrition. Don't feel as confident about my run nutrition. What are the other racers strategies?

they say they have aid stations at everymile, I plan on getting something about every 3-4 miles, but not to much at each during the half iron in Sept I think I ate way to many pretzel sticks

Eat/drink anything that looks good. :) It's amazing what I start to crave at the back end of the run. I have pigged out on
M&M's
Oreos
Pretzels
Picklels
Licorice - i don't recommend that one ;)

Just be sure to keep putting something into your stomach. :)
Good luck!

For my bike I am carrying pretty much everything I will be consuming. For the run I plan on 2-300 calories an hour of what they have available at the stops. I will also carry 6 gels with cafeine. With more stops and more probability of not running out of stuff I feel better about depending on the run stops instead of the bike ones. I am figuring by that time I will let my stomach and desire dictate more what I eat. I have tried all the products they will have previously so should not be an issue on that part.

Run Nutrition

I've done one Ironman/Iron distance and by the time I got to the run I was just not interested in 'eating' ie chewing anything so I stuck with Gu/Gels and made myself meet the 300 cal/hour goal. I've run over 20 marathons and never experienced what I felt in the Ironman.......you are out there pushing it ALL DAY! Still really important to stay hydrated too even if it has cooled down (for those of us that finish after dark). Sounds like they will have Hammer Gel and HEED drink so it's a really good idea to practice with those products now to see if you tolerate them and how much your gut with tolerate after hours of exertion.
